An unused comp from our process on Pink Floyd. As a long-time fan of the work of Storm Thorgerson (Pink Floyd’s designer), I wanted to make an image that was worthy of Storm’s approach and tied together their iconic 70s era and latter day 90s-00s work.

Storm wouldn’t have been happy with my methods, however. While I did find an image of an english field in a northern county favored for his photo shoots, I used 10 different images of flying birds to combine into the pyramid shape in Photoshop. 

While our publisher chose to keep a copy of this at his desk, we decided the marketplace would receive this cover better (design by Amanda Kain):
